Leila Khaled (*1944) rückte den palästinensischen Kampf durch zwei dramatische Flugzeugentführungen 1969 und 1970 in den Fokus der Weltöffentlichkeit. Khaled ist noch immer eine der einflussreichsten antiimperialistischen linken Frauen der Zeit nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg und ist heute als Mitglied des Zentralkomitees der Volksfront zur Befreiung Palästinas (PFLP) und Vertreterin des Palästinensischen Nationalrats in der Führungsebene der palästinensischen Revolution aktiv. Ich habe gelernt, dass eine Frau eine Kämpferin sein kann, eine Freiheitskämpferin, eine politische Aktivistin, und dass sie sich verlieben, geliebt werden, heiraten, Kinder haben, eine Mutter sein kann … Revolution muss auch Leben bedeuten; jeden Aspekt des Lebens.
Leila Khaled (*1944) brought the Palestinian struggle to the world’s attention by means of two dramatic plane hijackings in 1969 and 1970, in which no one but one of her own comrades was killed, the American-Nicaraguan Patrick Arguello. Khaled remains one of the most influential leftist anti-imperialist women in the post-Second World War period, active today in the leadership of the Palestinian revolution, as she is one of the central committee members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) as well as a representative of the Palestinian National Council. I have learned that a woman can be a fighter, a freedom fighter, a political activist, and that she can fall in love, and be loved, she can be married, have children, be a mother ... Revolution must mean life also; every aspect of life.
