feminist - Project
Photo project for International Women's Day
On the occasion of International Women's Day on 8 March 2021, KUNST HAUS WIEN is launching a photo project entitled feminist. The protagonists wear a T-shirt with the inscription "feminist", based on a design by the Slovak artist Andrea Juneková. The portraits were taken by photographer Elsa Okazaki. The participating feminists are all loosely or closely connected to KUNST HAUS WIEN and believe that equality of all genders should be a self-evident goal for society as a whole.

Act now, without delay.
Andreas Bitesnich, photographer
I look forward to when the word "girl" gets the right article [in German].
Kevin Grabowski, Digital Marketing & Tourism KUNST HAUS WIEN
My greatest feminist role model? My 2005 born little brother in Germany! As a child, he always wanted to be a BUNDESKANZLERIN. So what a difference equality in language can make ... At this point, I also say as a gay man that equality should not only be a virtue or even a privilege, but should be a prerequisite and right of every human being.
Josef Haslinger, writer
Feminism is currently the biggest emancipation movement in the Western world.
Choral Band Hermann
The music scene is male-dominated - we are a prime example of this. Especially as a "boy band", it is our concern to draw attention to this imbalance and to support the feminist movement.
Renger van Heuvel, Director SPARK Art Fair Vienna
Daniel Kalt, editor-in-chief Schaufenster (Die Presse)
What feminism stands for, whether "first, second, third wave" ..., I also stand for one hundred percent and not only on days when I wear a slogan t-shirt.
Norbert Kettner, tourism director
Feminism is like rowing against the current. If you stop, you drift back.
Michael Kollmann, photobook curator WestLicht
"Never photograph something that doesn't interest you." This self-confident, indispensable thought of the photographer Lisette Model also had a decisive influence on the artistic attitude of her student Diane Arbus. And through her, further generations of female photographers were encouraged to do what needs to be done. Transferring this thought to life means consistently maintaining one's attitude towards life. Life itself is too valuable to dwell on trivialities or even to waste it on false ideologies. In photography, in art, as a woman, as a man, as a human being.
Felix Leutner, manager Foto Leutner
I like women - and I like them strong and at eye level.
Jorge Lopez-Alvarez, visitor service KUNST HAUS WIEN
Drazen Matic, manager Matic Werbung
Both genders benefit from feminism: women as well as men. Feminism strengthens politics and is a significant engine for socio-political progress.
Adam Pawloff, climate expert at Greenpeace
It is unacceptable that women in the 21st century continue to face unequal pay, glass ceilings as well as domestic violence. We need to change this flawed social and political system and put an end to it once and for all. It will take all of us.

Life Hack: Be a Feminist.

Thomas Zelenka, beekeeper
In a bee colony, about 70,000 bees live together peacefully and harmoniously. Workers, drones (male) and 1 queen. Each has its tasks and they work selflessly and diligently for the good of the community. A social structure without competition and power games. I am a feminist.
