FUTURE TALK: CLIMATE X CHANGE.
Food of the future
Healthy and nutritious food is one of the most important basic human needs. However, the ever-growing world population, the man-made climate crisis and fragile supply chains are having a negative impact on global food security. At the same time, our current food systems are the single biggest driver of climate change: They produce a third of all greenhouse gases, occupy millions of hectares of land, consume much of the world's freshwater reserves and are the biggest contributor to species extinction and nutrient pollution. Experts agree that in order to protect ecosystems, we need to change the way we eat, avoid food waste and adopt more ecological and sustainable forms of agriculture.
How will we eat healthily in the future? Which foods will play an increasingly important role in our diet? Which alternative forms of agriculture demonstrate careful use of natural resources? And which local solutions can guarantee global food security?
Experts from science, business, art and activism discussed the development of global food systems, measures to ensure global food security and strategies to promote sustainable and resilient agriculture and food production.
