Private Matters
An installation by Cosima Terrasse
Is being brave a
private matter or constituent of the public sphere? What are the
qualities of a brave person, and what do they cost to hold on to? What
is the democratic pact and does it have architectural shapes? What does
it mean to be irreplaceable in the collective?
Using the works of Cynthia Fleury and the premise that preparing for death is discovering how to live, Cosima Terrasse will explore through a participatory installation, political and ideological questions through cemetery design. Visitors can contribute to the constitution of a contemporary cemetery, enter discussions and change fundamental societal decisions, begging the question is death a private matter or constitutive of the public sphere?
