Mika Rottenberg. Antimatter Factory
With the survey exhibition Antimatter Factory, KunstHausWien presents a comprehensive insight into the multifaceted work of Mika Rottenberg. The public tour allows visitors to immerse themselves in sensual fantasy worlds and contextualises the exhibited films, installations, kinetic sculptures and organic structures and their sometimes irritating logic.
Questioning the boundaries between reality and imagination is a recurrent theme in Mika Rottenberg's film installations. People and things seem to be set in motion, space and time, past and future intermingle. The title of the exhibition, Antimatter Factory, quotes the name of a research department at CERN in Geneva that conducts experiments on antimatter. As an artist in residence, Rottenberg found inspiration there for her work Spaghetti Blockchain (2019-2024), which focuses on the exchange of energy, objects and people.
